Brand identity design. The team at VFX hub, based in Bournemouth University, wanted to create a new exciting brand for their animation and visual effects festival and competition. The challenges of the brief were to create an identity that would appeal to the widest audience of young students and university students to teachers, adults and industry leaders. Many names were proposed that included ‘arc’ based on the pivotal points in animation as well as ‘esc’ working on the idea of escaping into a new world created through visual effects and using the esc key as a link to the tools used in visual effects.
BFX was eventually the chosen name, however the concept of escape and a window on a new world were used. The logo is adaptive, using student work as the content behind the logo which constantly changes and evolves depending on the context of its use. When the logo is used on screen an animated version is used.
